Yulia Navalnaya has presented the first Alexei Navalny Prize to Zaodno, a grassroots support platform helping people facing political persecution in Russia.
The Alexei Navalny Prize, established by Yulia Navalnaya, recognizes individuals and initiatives that continue working for freedom, justice, and democratic change despite significant personal risks. The award aims to support civic efforts that embody the values Alexei Navalny stood for.
Zaodno became the first recipient of the prize. The team has built a platform that enables people to send donations to political prisoners directly from Russian bank cards, using a legal and secure mechanism that ensures support reaches those most affected.
The initiative reflects the importance of solidarity: the belief that no one should feel isolated when facing state pressure, and that mutual support can help sustain a genuine civil society — the kind of society Navalny envisioned.
The award includes a €10,000 monetary prize, which the Zaodno team has pledged to direct entirely toward supporting political prisoners and their families.
