ALEXANDER DANIEL PRESENTS A NEW SERIES OF LECTURES ON THE HISTORY OF THE DISSIDENT MOVEMENT IN EASTERN EUROPE

On 25 August, on the 54th anniversary of the Moscow action against the entry of Soviet troops into Czechoslovakia, International Memorial* announced a series of lectures about dissidents. The speaker is Alexander Daniel, a prominent researcher of the history of the dissident movement in the USSR.

The series of lectures «Dissidents of Central and Eastern Europe» are aimed to present those pages of the dissident movement that are  little known in Russia.  The key issue will be struggle for  human rights and  against the socialist regime in the countries of the so called Eastern Bloc.  

The first lecture is available on September 5 on YouTube and on social media channels of International Memorial*. In the 
introductory video Alexander Daniel explains why these issues were chosen for the series and shows their significance in the post-war era.

 

* On 28 February, International Memorial was liquidated in Russia by court order.
